Problem

Every Mobile EAS Production run since 2026-07-31 20:54 UTC fails in Deploy with fingerprint check, before any build or OTA (run 30815138842):

No environment variables with visibility "Plain text" and "Sensitive" found for the "production" environment on EAS.
SyntaxError: Unexpected token 'N', "No environ"... is not valid JSON

eas fingerprint:generate --environment production prints that notice on stdout — even with --json — when the EAS production environment holds no plain-text/sensitive variables. apps/mobile/scripts/eas-continuous-deploy.sh piped stdout straight into JSON.parse, so the notice killed the step and set -e failed the job.

The one green run in that window (30662269838) only passed because it was dispatched with an explicit --runtime-version, which short-circuits the fingerprint path entirely.

Fix

  • New apps/mobile/scripts/lib/eas-json.mjs: reads stdin and scans for the first well-formed JSON object/array (string- and escape-aware brace matching), so leading notices, trailing chatter, and prose containing braces are all tolerated. Three modes — fingerprint-hash (fails the deploy when absent), usable-build-id and latest-finished-runtime (lenient; "no build yet" is a handled outcome).
  • eas-continuous-deploy.sh routes all three eas … --json payloads through it instead of inline node -eJSON.parse snippets.
  • The EAS production/development workflows overlay apps/mobile/scripts/lib next to the deploy script when running the workflow ref's tooling.

Verification

  • vp test run scripts/lib/eas-json.test.mjs — 14 tests, covering the exact failing stdout, the fingerprintHash alias, dashed/lowercase build statuses, braces inside JSON strings, and empty output.
  • End-to-end run of eas-continuous-deploy.sh against a stubbed eas that reproduces the notice + JSON stdout: fingerprint resolves, matching build is found, OTA publishes, exit 0.

`eas fingerprint:generate --environment production` prints
No environment variables with visibility "Plain text" and "Sensitive"

on stdout when that EAS environment holds no plain/sensitive variables, so

Route all three `eas ... --json` payloads through a shared reader that scans
for the first well-formed JSON value instead of trusting the whole pipe, and

on stdout when that EAS environment holds no plain/sensitive variables, so
piping it straight into `JSON.parse` died with `Unexpected token 'N'`. Every
Mobile EAS Production run since 2026-07-31 failed in "Deploy with fingerprint
check" before reaching build or OTA; the one green run in between only passed
because an explicit --runtime-version skipped the fingerprint path entirely.
Route all three `eas ... --json` payloads through a shared reader that scans
for the first well-formed JSON value instead of trusting the whole pipe, and
overlay the new lib alongside the deploy script in the EAS workflows.
