The CLAUDE.md symlink was committed with a trailing newline in its target path (b'AGENTS.md\n' instead of b'AGENTS.md'). This caused the OS to look for a file literally named "AGENTS.md\n", which doesn't exist, making the symlink appear broken. As a result, Claude Code silently failed to load project instructions.

The symlink target was AGENTS.md\n (10 bytes) instead of AGENTS.md (9 bytes), making it a broken symbolic link. Mirrors upstream pingdotgg#2052, which was inadvertently reverted by pingdotgg#2080.

Upstream pingdotgg#2052 removed the trailing newline from this symlink's target; "Build for Windows ARM" (pingdotgg#2080) accidentally reintroduced it. A symlink to "AGENTS.md\n" dangles on every OS, so project instructions silently never loaded at session start. Restore the 9-byte target. Candidate for an upstream PR — the breakage is not Windows-specific. (Windows checkouts additionally need core.symlinks=true plus Developer Mode, or git flattens all tracked symlinks to text files; that was fixed machine-side today.)
