Summary

Part 1 (the public-submodule half) of facet-based thread classification — distilling each thread into lightweight, queryable facets so focuses can sort by the kind of message and who it's from, not just the topic. This PR adds the producing side; it ships with zero runtime behavior change (facets just start populating — nothing consumes them yet). The consuming side (the classifier gate, LLM filter derivation) lives in the core repo and lands separately, with the submodule pointer bumped after this merges.

What's here

  • @plotday/twister/facets (new export): Format (chat|message|reading|notification|receipt|invoice|promotion), Automation (human|automated), Reach (direct|list), and ThreadFacets. NewLink gains an optional facets field so connectors can emit them. (Changeset included — minor.)
  • @plotday/email-classifier (new shared package under libs/): a pure, unit-tested classifyEmail(signals) → ThreadFacets mapping normalized email signals (List-Id/List-Unsubscribe, Precedence, Auto-Submitted, Return-Path, sender, recipient count, subject, body length, Gmail category labels) to facets. Reusable by gmail/outlook/apple-mail.
  • Gmail assembles EmailSignals from message headers/labels/body and emits link.facets.
  • Slack emits facets via a small source-specific helper (bot/subtype → automation; channel-id prefix → reach; text length → chat/message).

Design notes

  • Best-effort / fail-open: a connector sets a facet only when a heuristic is confident, else leaves it null; the consumer never gates on a null facet.
  • Mailing-list mail is treated as automated in the shared classifier (so all email connectors inherit it); the connector adapters stay pure signal-mappers.

Test Plan

  • @plotday/email-classifier: 17 unit tests
  • gmail connector: 23 tests (incl. 3 new facet tests)
  • slack connector: 18 tests (incl. 6 new facet tests)
  • twister typechecks; validate-changesets passes

Adds gmailFacets() signal extractor + classifyEmail integration, and sets
plotThread.facets at the saveLink site from the thread's first non-draft message.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Adds slackFacets() helper that classifies format (chat vs message by length),
automation (human vs bot via bot_id/subtype/missing user), and reach (direct vs
list via channelId C-prefix heuristic). Wired at all three saveLink sites in
processMessageThreads, refreshSlackThread, and saveStarredThread.
