Postman Button

An embeddable widget for adding Postman buttons to any webpage. Launch Agent Mode with a pre-filled prompt or fork a public collection — with zero backend required.

Agent Mode BadgeFork Badge

Quick Start

Add the script tag once per page, then drop in as many button <div>s as you need.

<!-- Load the widget (once per page) --><scriptsrc="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/quintonwall/agentmode-button@v1.2/src/postman-button.js" defer></script>

Agent Mode Button

Opens Postman with a pre-filled prompt in Agent Mode:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Build a REST API for a todo app with CRUD endpoints"
data-postman-utm-campaign="my-tutorial"></div>

Fork Collection Button

Forks a public collection into the user's workspace:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="collection/fork"
data-postman-collection-id="12959542-c8142d51-e97c-46b6-bd77-52bb66712c9a"
data-postman-utm-campaign="api-docs"></div>

Configuration Reference

AttributeRequiredDefaultDescription
data-postman-actionYes"agent/prompt" or "collection/fork"
data-postman-agent-promptYes (agent)Plain text prompt (auto Base64-encoded by the widget)
data-postman-auto-sendNo"false"Auto-send the prompt when Postman opens
data-postman-collection-idYes (fork)Public collection UID to fork
data-postman-utm-campaignNo"postman-button"UTM campaign name for analytics
data-postman-utm-contentNoAuto (page path)Set to "false" to disable page path tracking
data-postman-button-labelNoAutoOverride the default button label
data-postman-button-themeNo"dark""dark" (orange bg) or "light" (white bg)

UTM Analytics

Every button click includes UTM parameters in the destination URL so you can track traffic in Google Analytics (or any UTM-aware analytics tool). The widget auto-detects utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_content — you only configure utm_campaign.

UTM ParameterValueSource
utm_sourceEmbedding page hostname (e.g., myblog.com)Auto-detected from window.location.hostname
utm_mediumagent-mode-buttonHardcoded by the widget (not configurable)
utm_campaignYour value via data-postman-utm-campaignConfigurable (default: postman-button)
utm_contentFull page URL (e.g., https://myblog.com/blog/api-tutorial)Auto-detected from window.location.href (opt out with data-postman-utm-content="false")

Example generated URL:

https://go.postman.co/redirect/workspace?agentPrompt=QnVpbGQg...&sideView=agentMode&autoSend=false
&utm_source=myblog.com&utm_medium=agent-mode-button&utm_campaign=api-tutorial
&utm_content=https%3A%2F%2Fmyblog.com%2Fblog%2Fapi-tutorial

Tracking Usage in Google Analytics

To see where your buttons are embedded and how they're performing:

  • All button traffic: Filter by utm_medium = agent-mode-button to see all clicks from embedded buttons across every site.
  • By campaign: Use utm_campaign to distinguish between different tutorials or pages. For example, set data-postman-utm-campaign="stripe-tutorial" on one page and data-postman-utm-campaign="openai-quickstart" on another.
  • By host site:utm_source tells you which domain the button was embedded on (e.g., myblog.com vs dev.to).
  • By page:utm_content captures the full page URL (e.g., https://myblog.com/blog/api-tutorial), so you can see exactly which pages drive the most clicks.

Example: To find all clicks from your Stripe tutorial embedded on myblog.com:

utm_medium = agent-mode-button
utm_source = myblog.com
utm_campaign = stripe-tutorial
utm_content = https://myblog.com/tutorials/stripe-api

Theming

Dark theme (default) — orange background, white text:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Your prompt here"></div>

Light theme — white background, orange text and border:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Your prompt here"
data-postman-button-theme="light"></div>

Multiple Buttons

Place as many buttons as you want on a single page. Each reads its own data-* attributes independently:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Explore the GitHub API"></div><divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="collection/fork"
data-postman-collection-id="12345-abcde"></div>

Local Development

npm install
npm run dev
# Open http://localhost:3000/demo/

Building

npm run build
# Output: dist/postman-button.js (~4KB minified)

Self-Hosting

  1. Run npm run build
  2. Copy dist/postman-button.js to your CDN or static file server
  3. Update the <script src="..."> in your embed code to point to your hosted URL

How It Works

  1. The script scans the page for elements with class="postman-button"
  2. For each element, it reads the data-postman-* attributes
  3. It builds a destination URL (Postman Agent Mode deep-link or fork URL) with UTM parameters
  4. It renders an inline SVG badge inside an <a> tag pointing to that URL
  5. Clicking opens Postman in a new tab with the prompt pre-filled or fork flow initiated

The widget is a single vanilla JavaScript IIFE with zero dependencies. It guards against double-initialization if the script is accidentally included twice.

utm_contentFull page URL (e.g., https://myblog.com/blog/api-tutorial)Auto-detected from window.location.href (opt out with data-postman-utm-content="false")

Example generated URL:

https://go.postman.co/redirect/workspace?agentPrompt=QnVpbGQg...&sideView=agentMode&autoSend=false
&utm_source=myblog.com&utm_medium=agent-mode-button&utm_campaign=api-tutorial
&utm_content=https%3A%2F%2Fmyblog.com%2Fblog%2Fapi-tutorial

Tracking Usage in Google Analytics

To see where your buttons are embedded and how they're performing:

  • All button traffic: Filter by utm_medium = agent-mode-button to see all clicks from embedded buttons across every site.
  • By campaign: Use utm_campaign to distinguish between different tutorials or pages. For example, set data-postman-utm-campaign="stripe-tutorial" on one page and data-postman-utm-campaign="openai-quickstart" on another.
  • By host site:utm_source tells you which domain the button was embedded on (e.g., myblog.com vs dev.to).
  • By page:utm_content captures the full page URL (e.g., https://myblog.com/blog/api-tutorial), so you can see exactly which pages drive the most clicks.

Example: To find all clicks from your Stripe tutorial embedded on myblog.com:

utm_medium = agent-mode-button
utm_source = myblog.com
utm_campaign = stripe-tutorial
utm_content = https://myblog.com/tutorials/stripe-api

Theming

Dark theme (default) — orange background, white text:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Your prompt here"></div>

Light theme — white background, orange text and border:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Your prompt here"
data-postman-button-theme="light"></div>

Multiple Buttons

Place as many buttons as you want on a single page. Each reads its own data-* attributes independently:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Explore the GitHub API"></div><divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="collection/fork"
data-postman-collection-id="12345-abcde"></div>

Local Development

npm install
npm run dev
# Open http://localhost:3000/demo/

Building

npm run build
# Output: dist/postman-button.js (~4KB minified)

Self-Hosting

  1. Run npm run build
  2. Copy dist/postman-button.js to your CDN or static file server
  3. Update the <script src="..."> in your embed code to point to your hosted URL

How It Works

  1. The script scans the page for elements with class="postman-button"
  2. For each element, it reads the data-postman-* attributes
  3. It builds a destination URL (Postman Agent Mode deep-link or fork URL) with UTM parameters
  4. It renders an inline SVG badge inside an <a> tag pointing to that URL
  5. Clicking opens Postman in a new tab with the prompt pre-filled or fork flow initiated

The widget is a single vanilla JavaScript IIFE with zero dependencies. It guards against double-initialization if the script is accidentally included twice.

Postman Button

An embeddable widget for adding Postman buttons to any webpage. Launch Agent Mode with a pre-filled prompt or fork a public collection — with zero backend required.

Agent Mode BadgeFork Badge

Quick Start

Add the script tag once per page, then drop in as many button <div>s as you need.

<!-- Load the widget (once per page) --><scriptsrc="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/quintonwall/agentmode-button@v1.2/src/postman-button.js" defer></script>

Agent Mode Button

Opens Postman with a pre-filled prompt in Agent Mode:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Build a REST API for a todo app with CRUD endpoints"
data-postman-utm-campaign="my-tutorial"></div>

Fork Collection Button

Forks a public collection into the user's workspace:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="collection/fork"
data-postman-collection-id="12959542-c8142d51-e97c-46b6-bd77-52bb66712c9a"
data-postman-utm-campaign="api-docs"></div>

Configuration Reference

AttributeRequiredDefaultDescription
data-postman-actionYes"agent/prompt" or "collection/fork"
data-postman-agent-promptYes (agent)Plain text prompt (auto Base64-encoded by the widget)
data-postman-auto-sendNo"false"Auto-send the prompt when Postman opens
data-postman-collection-idYes (fork)Public collection UID to fork
data-postman-utm-campaignNo"postman-button"UTM campaign name for analytics
data-postman-utm-contentNoAuto (page path)Set to "false" to disable page path tracking
data-postman-button-labelNoAutoOverride the default button label
data-postman-button-themeNo"dark""dark" (orange bg) or "light" (white bg)

UTM Analytics

Every button click includes UTM parameters in the destination URL so you can track traffic in Google Analytics (or any UTM-aware analytics tool). The widget auto-detects utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_content — you only configure utm_campaign.

UTM ParameterValueSource
utm_sourceEmbedding page hostname (e.g., myblog.com)Auto-detected from window.location.hostname
utm_mediumagent-mode-buttonHardcoded by the widget (not configurable)
utm_campaignYour value via data-postman-utm-campaignConfigurable (default: postman-button)
utm_contentFull page URL (e.g., https://myblog.com/blog/api-tutorial)Auto-detected from window.location.href (opt out with data-postman-utm-content="false")

Example generated URL:

https://go.postman.co/redirect/workspace?agentPrompt=QnVpbGQg...&sideView=agentMode&autoSend=false
&utm_source=myblog.com&utm_medium=agent-mode-button&utm_campaign=api-tutorial
&utm_content=https%3A%2F%2Fmyblog.com%2Fblog%2Fapi-tutorial

Tracking Usage in Google Analytics

To see where your buttons are embedded and how they're performing:

  • All button traffic: Filter by utm_medium = agent-mode-button to see all clicks from embedded buttons across every site.
  • By campaign: Use utm_campaign to distinguish between different tutorials or pages. For example, set data-postman-utm-campaign="stripe-tutorial" on one page and data-postman-utm-campaign="openai-quickstart" on another.
  • By host site:utm_source tells you which domain the button was embedded on (e.g., myblog.com vs dev.to).
  • By page:utm_content captures the full page URL (e.g., https://myblog.com/blog/api-tutorial), so you can see exactly which pages drive the most clicks.

Example: To find all clicks from your Stripe tutorial embedded on myblog.com:

utm_medium = agent-mode-button
utm_source = myblog.com
utm_campaign = stripe-tutorial
utm_content = https://myblog.com/tutorials/stripe-api

Theming

Dark theme (default) — orange background, white text:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Your prompt here"></div>

Light theme — white background, orange text and border:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Your prompt here"
data-postman-button-theme="light"></div>

Multiple Buttons

Place as many buttons as you want on a single page. Each reads its own data-* attributes independently:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Explore the GitHub API"></div><divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="collection/fork"
data-postman-collection-id="12345-abcde"></div>

Local Development

npm install
npm run dev
# Open http://localhost:3000/demo/

Building

npm run build
# Output: dist/postman-button.js (~4KB minified)

Self-Hosting

  1. Run npm run build
  2. Copy dist/postman-button.js to your CDN or static file server
  3. Update the <script src="..."> in your embed code to point to your hosted URL

How It Works

  1. The script scans the page for elements with class="postman-button"
  2. For each element, it reads the data-postman-* attributes
  3. It builds a destination URL (Postman Agent Mode deep-link or fork URL) with UTM parameters
  4. It renders an inline SVG badge inside an <a> tag pointing to that URL
  5. Clicking opens Postman in a new tab with the prompt pre-filled or fork flow initiated

The widget is a single vanilla JavaScript IIFE with zero dependencies. It guards against double-initialization if the script is accidentally included twice.

<!-- Load the widget (once per page) --><scriptsrc="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/quintonwall/agentmode-button@v1.2/src/postman-button.js" defer></script>

Agent Mode Button

Opens Postman with a pre-filled prompt in Agent Mode:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Build a REST API for a todo app with CRUD endpoints"
data-postman-utm-campaign="my-tutorial"></div>

Fork Collection Button

Forks a public collection into the user's workspace:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="collection/fork"
data-postman-collection-id="12959542-c8142d51-e97c-46b6-bd77-52bb66712c9a"

UTM Analytics

Every button click includes UTM parameters in the destination URL so you can track traffic in Google Analytics (or any UTM-aware analytics tool). The widget auto-detects utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_content — you only configure utm_campaign.

UTM ParameterValueSource
utm_sourceEmbedding page hostname (e.g., myblog.com)Auto-detected from window.location.hostname
utm_mediumagent-mode-buttonHardcoded by the widget (not configurable)
utm_campaignYour value via data-postman-utm-campaignConfigurable (default: postman-button)
utm_contentFull page URL (e.g., https://myblog.com/blog/api-tutorial)Auto-detected from window.location.href (opt out with data-postman-utm-content="false")

Example generated URL:

https://go.postman.co/redirect/workspace?agentPrompt=QnVpbGQg...&sideView=agentMode&autoSend=false
&utm_source=myblog.com&utm_medium=agent-mode-button&utm_campaign=api-tutorial
&utm_content=https%3A%2F%2Fmyblog.com%2Fblog%2Fapi-tutorial

Tracking Usage in Google Analytics

To see where your buttons are embedded and how they're performing:

  • All button traffic: Filter by utm_medium = agent-mode-button to see all clicks from embedded buttons across every site.
  • By campaign: Use utm_campaign to distinguish between different tutorials or pages. For example, set data-postman-utm-campaign="stripe-tutorial" on one page and data-postman-utm-campaign="openai-quickstart" on another.
  • By host site:utm_source tells you which domain the button was embedded on (e.g., myblog.com vs dev.to).
  • By page:utm_content captures the full page URL (e.g., https://myblog.com/blog/api-tutorial), so you can see exactly which pages drive the most clicks.

Example: To find all clicks from your Stripe tutorial embedded on myblog.com:

utm_medium = agent-mode-button
utm_source = myblog.com
utm_campaign = stripe-tutorial
utm_content = https://myblog.com/tutorials/stripe-api

Light theme — white background, orange text and border:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Your prompt here"
data-postman-button-theme="light"></div>

Multiple Buttons

Place as many buttons as you want on a single page. Each reads its own data-* attributes independently:

<divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="agent/prompt"
data-postman-agent-prompt="Explore the GitHub API"></div><divclass="postman-button"
data-postman-action="collection/fork"
data-postman-collection-id="12345-abcde"></div>

Local Development

npm install
npm run dev
# Open http://localhost:3000/demo/

Building

npm run build
# Output: dist/postman-button.js (~4KB minified)

Self-Hosting

  1. Run npm run build
  2. Copy dist/postman-button.js to your CDN or static file server
  3. Update the <script src="..."> in your embed code to point to your hosted URL

How It Works

  1. The script scans the page for elements with class="postman-button"
  2. For each element, it reads the data-postman-* attributes
  3. It builds a destination URL (Postman Agent Mode deep-link or fork URL) with UTM parameters
  4. It renders an inline SVG badge inside an <a> tag pointing to that URL
  5. Clicking opens Postman in a new tab with the prompt pre-filled or fork flow initiated

The widget is a single vanilla JavaScript IIFE with zero dependencies. It guards against double-initialization if the script is accidentally included twice.
