Fixes bugs identified in Issue #11.
Python adaptations (of the original Ruby version of OSut) are largely copy/paste operations. All three identified bugs appear to stem from incomplete copy/paste operations, or inconsistent (subsequent) code cleanup.
None of these appear in the original Ruby version.
