## Что такое доступность контента? {#why-accessibility}

Web accessibility (also referred to as [**a11y**](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/a11y)) is the design and creation of websites that can be used by everyone. Accessibility support is necessary to allow assistive technology to interpret web pages.
Доступность контента -- это специальные технические и архитектурные решения, которые помогают людям с ограниченными возможностями использовать сайты. Применение таких решений необходимо для интерпретации страниц техническими средствами реабилитации, встроенными в операционные системы и браузеры. Термин **«доступность контента»** также может обозначаться аббревиатурой [**a11y**](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/a11y).

@AlLevykin я вижу, что та же Википедия даёт в качестве синонима к техническим средствам реабилитации словосочетание вспомогательные технологии. Не будет ли оно звучать менее формально?
