Requirements

• Python 3.11+ (3.13 recommended)
• macOS, Linux, or Windows

Linux (Debian/Ubuntu)

Windows

SQLCipher installation on Windows requires additional steps. See sqlcipher3-wheels documentation.

Installation

git clone https://github.com/rsembera/edgecase.git
cd edgecase
python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: venv\Scripts\activate
pip install -e .

With AI features (optional)

pip install -e ".[ai]"

Running

python main.py

Then open http://localhost:8080 in your browser.

Options

python main.py --port=9000    # Use a different port
python main.py --dev          # Development mode (auto-reload)

You can also set environment variables:

• EDGECASE_PORT - Port number (default: 8080)
• EDGECASE_DATA - Custom data directory (for testing or alternate databases)

This ensures EdgeCase remains free software for therapists while preventing proprietary SaaS derivatives.
