Hey, I’m Rodrigo

I am a computational plasma physicist and astrophysicist working at the interface of simulations, high-performance computing and experiments for fusion energy.

When I am not thinking about plasmas, I am reading, writing, or riding motorcycles. I am originally from the south of Brazil.

  • ⚛️ I am currently a Computational Science Manager at Helion.
  • 🕳️ Before moving to industry, I was a professor and research group leader at the University of São Paulo, studying black holes, relativistic jets, accretion flows, and other extreme plasma environments.
  • 📊 When I am wearing my ML hat, I am interested in neural operators, transformers, surrogate modeling, and scientific AI.
  • 🌍 I have lived in 2 different states in Brazil, 5 states in US and briefly in UK.
  • 🥏 Fun fact: I once represented my home state in a discus throwing competition and, ironically, ended up researching accretion disks around black holes.
