Warning

DO NOT MERGE — personal-fork V1 experiment.

Problem

T3 Code cannot branch a Codex conversation from an earlier user prompt or completed assistant response, so correcting course means destructive revert or manual recreation.

How

  • adds Edit and fork to eligible plain user messages and Fork from here to checkpointed assistant responses
  • creates the child through the typed server fork RPC, navigates to its isolated worktree, and prefills the authored prompt only for Edit
  • shows a compact lineage card linking back to the parent without cloning historical T3 activity
  • keeps timeline action predicates and callbacks stable while responses stream

Validation

  • vp run --filter @t3tools/web typecheck
  • vp run --filter @t3tools/client-runtime typecheck
  • 132 focused web tests across ChatView logic, timeline rendering, and session activity filtering
  • targeted lint, format, and diff checks
  • adversarial self-review: no findings
  • real T3 web-client run: both actions rendered on a persisted Codex thread; Edit created an isolated branch/worktree and prefilled the original prompt; assistant fork preserved native context (the child correctly answered 4 from the parent response); parent remained unchanged
  • archive lifecycle exercised on the fork: dirty archive refused, clean archive removed the worktree, one-click unarchive restored it, and disposable test threads/worktrees/branches were cleaned up

The T3 preview screenshot endpoint failed during this run, so visual screenshots remain pending on this draft. Semantic browser control and DOM inspection succeeded.

Stack

Depends on #7 (fork/01-codex-workspace-workflow).

Built with GPT-5.6-Sol through the Codex harness in T3 Code.
