Hi, I'm Frederick Senya 👋

PhD Candidate in Mathematical Sciences @ University of Vermont

I build mathematical models for real-world problems in biology, public health, and clinical data, then make the results clear to whoever needs them. First-author published, with 4+ years teaching university-level mathematics.

📍 San Jose, CA · 📫 senyafrederick@gmail.com · 🔗 LinkedIn

🔬 What I work on

  • Mathematical modeling — differential equations, reaction-diffusion PDEs, flux-balance analysis, compartmental (disease) models
  • Statistical & data analysis — Bayesian inference, time-series, regression, predictive modeling, anomaly detection
  • Reproducible scientific computing — documented, validated, publication-quality workflows

📄 Selected work

  • First-author publicationEquation-Based Integration of Flux Balance Analysis with Diffusion for Spatio-Temporal Simulation of Microbial Communities. Senya et al., 2026, bioRxiv
  • COMETS — recognized contributor to Computation of Microbial Ecosystems in Time and Space (open-source scientific software), 2025
  • CKD risk modeling — co-authored predictive model risk-stratifying chronic kidney disease patients by stage degeneration (presented at SIAM)

🧰 Tech & tools

PythonRMATLABNumPySciPypandasJupyterLaTeXGit

🎓 Also an educator

4+ years teaching Algebra through Calculus II and Modern Mathematics — 45–51 students per section, rated 4.4–4.8/5 for building an inclusive, student-centered classroom. I care about making hard quantitative ideas land for everyone, not just the few who arrive confident.
