Local SEO is not the SEO that ranks a blog post. The ranking factors are different, the results page is different, and the thing being ranked is not your website at all — it's an entity record in Google's index that you mostly don't control.

SEOG is a platform for the businesses that live or die by that record: read the signals, see where you actually rank, and get a prioritized list of what to fix next.

What it does

  • Rank on a map, not a number — geo-grid scans that show where a business ranks at its own front door and where it disappears three miles out.
  • Google Business Profile, managed — profile audits and fixes, photos, posts, and review replies published straight to Google.
  • Reviews — sync full history, triage by status/rating/comment, reply manually or with an assisted draft.
  • Competitors — who's in the pack, what they changed, and what's actually driving the gap.
  • AI visibility — whether an AI assistant recommends the business when someone asks it a local question, measured rather than guessed.
  • Citations, website and Search Console — NAP consistency, schema, and the on-site half of the work.
  • Built for agents — every operation above is reachable by an AI agent over MCP, not just through the UI.

The Local SEO Manual — free, and the reason to start here

learn.seog.ai · source: local-seo-manual · CC BY 4.0

49 chapters that teach local SEO from zero and then keep going past where every other guide stops. Two things in it aren't available anywhere else:

  1. A field reference built from live probes, not documentation. A dated capability matrix of the Google Business Profile APIs — what works, what's gone, what never worked despite the UI offering it — with the probe that established each fact. (Google's own deprecation page still doesn't mention that the Q&A API was retired.)
  2. Measurement written honestly, including where it breaks — how to read a geo-grid without fooling yourself, why two rank trackers disagree, and the structural reason map-pack grid tracking cannot work for service-area businesses.

Every chapter is theory → lab → what good looks like. The labs run in SEOG, and there's an appendix covering the manual path for each one if you'd rather not.

Repositories

Most of this org is private — the platform itself (API, product app, marketing site, admin, docs, mobile shell) ships from separate repos, one deployable each. What's public:
