👨‍💻 Stefan Ralph Kumarasinghe

Software Engineer | Distributed Systems | Observability

Most of my work sits around backend architecture, observability, and turning raw telemetry into something actually useful. I enjoy working on complex systems where multiple signals need to be correlated and understood, not just collected.

I also care about UI alot...

LinkedInYouTube

🛠 What I Focus On

  • Distributed Systems — reliability, failure handling, and low-latency design
  • Observability — deep work with LGTM (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir)
  • AI + Systems — automated RCA, anomaly detection, reasoning over telemetry

🚀 Observantio

I’m currently building Observantio, a set of tools focused on simplifying modern observability.

The goal is simple:

Take raw logs, metrics, and traces — and turn them into clear answers.

Everything is built on open-source tooling, so you stay in control of your data.

🏛 Projects

Control plane for the stack.

  • Unified view across logs, metrics, traces, alerts
  • RBAC + multi-tenancy
  • Removes the need to jump between tools

RCA + reasoning engine.

  • Correlates signals across Loki, Tempo, and Mimir
  • Finds the likely root cause instead of just showing symptoms
  • Supports anomaly detection and forecasting

Incident and alerting system.

  • Alert routing and lifecycle management
  • Team collaboration + Jira integration
  • Connects system signals to human response

Lightweight telemetry agent (Rust).

  • Reads directly from /proc and Windows APIs
  • Outputs OpenTelemetry (OTLP)
  • Focused on performance and minimal overhead
  • Solaris support in progress

📈 Other Work

It uses langchain, but I soon got bored of the project.

👨‍💻 Stefan Ralph Kumarasinghe

Software Engineer | Distributed Systems | Observability

Most of my work sits around backend architecture, observability, and turning raw telemetry into something actually useful. I enjoy working on complex systems where multiple signals need to be correlated and understood, not just collected.

I also care about UI alot...

LinkedInYouTube

🛠 What I Focus On

  • Distributed Systems — reliability, failure handling, and low-latency design
  • Observability — deep work with LGTM (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir)
  • AI + Systems — automated RCA, anomaly detection, reasoning over telemetry

🚀 Observantio

I’m currently building Observantio, a set of tools focused on simplifying modern observability.

The goal is simple:

Take raw logs, metrics, and traces — and turn them into clear answers.

Everything is built on open-source tooling, so you stay in control of your data.

🏛 Projects

Control plane for the stack.

  • Unified view across logs, metrics, traces, alerts
  • RBAC + multi-tenancy
  • Removes the need to jump between tools

RCA + reasoning engine.

  • Correlates signals across Loki, Tempo, and Mimir
  • Finds the likely root cause instead of just showing symptoms
  • Supports anomaly detection and forecasting

Incident and alerting system.

  • Alert routing and lifecycle management
  • Team collaboration + Jira integration
  • Connects system signals to human response

Lightweight telemetry agent (Rust).

  • Reads directly from /proc and Windows APIs
  • Outputs OpenTelemetry (OTLP)
  • Focused on performance and minimal overhead
  • Solaris support in progress

📈 Other Work

It uses langchain, but I soon got bored of the project.
