Subthiel is an independent one person studio in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, run by Marco Thiel. It does two things: FDM 3D printing (prototypes, small series and finished products) and software development (web apps, APIs, firmware and automation).

The two sides are not separate hobbies, they feed each other. Physical products get proper storefronts, tooling and automation around them, and the software stays grounded in something that actually ships in a box.

Designed and 3D printed objects, from the first sketch to a finished, packable product.

• Prototypes and functional samples. From CAD model to a part you can hold, usually within days.
• Small series and spare parts. Repeatable batches of the same part, printed to order instead of tooled.
• Custom objects and gifts. Personalised pieces, logos, one off designs.
• Own products. Shopping cart chips (Einkaufswagenchips), coasters, keyrings and other small goods, sold at shop.subthiel.eu.

The tooling that keeps the workshop, the shop and the products running, plus client work.

• Web applications and APIs. Astro and Svelte frontends, Node.js and TypeScript services.
• E-commerce. Shopify theme development, storefront integrations, order and shipping automation.
• Firmware and hardware. ESP32 and ESPHome, sensors, printer telemetry, Home Assistant integrations.
• Automation and self hosting. Docker, reverse proxies, media pipelines, internal tools.

Most product and shop repositories are private because they carry live business data. What can stand on its own gets published here.

Working privately, published when it is ready to stand alone: the Shopify storefront theme, the Astro website, a costing and ERP tool for the print business, a QR and NFC link shortener, and a content pipeline for short form video.

Our two accents are functional, never decorative, and never mixed:

Small 3D printed everyday products through shop.subthiel.eu, above all shopping cart chips (Einkaufswagenchips) with custom motifs, plus coasters and keyrings. Alongside that, Subthiel takes on contract printing and software projects.
