## Cursor Cloud specific instructions

Runtime: **Bun 1.3.14** (installed at `~/.bun/bin/bun`, symlinked to
`/usr/local/bin/bun` so it is on the default `PATH`) plus system Node.js. Project
deps come from `bun install --frozen-lockfile` (the startup update script already
runs this). Chromium for `browse`/`make-pdf` is a Playwright build in
`~/.cache/ms-playwright` (installed once into the VM snapshot); if it is ever
missing, reinstall with `bunx playwright@1.62.1 install --with-deps chromium`
(match the version of `node_modules/playwright`).

Commands are already documented in `package.json` scripts and `CONTRIBUTING.md`;
the authoritative ones here are: build with `bun run build` (compiles the
gitignored `browse/dist`, `make-pdf/dist`, and `bin/gstack-global-discover`
binaries — rebuild after editing `browse/src/*` or `make-pdf/src/*`), free test
suite with `bun run test`, and the AI-code-quality scan (this repo's "lint") with
`bun run slop`. Ignore the stale `gen:gstack2` / `test:gstack2` / `skill:check`
references in the AGENTS.md build block above — those scripts were deleted;
`package.json` is authoritative (see `CLAUDE.md`, "skills/ is the STATIC source").

Running the app: `browse` and `make-pdf` are CLI daemons, not web servers — no
long-running service needs to be started. The `browse` binary auto-starts and
auto-idles its own headless Chromium daemon on demand (e.g.
`./browse/dist/browse goto <url>` then `./browse/dist/browse text` /
`screenshot <path>`). `screenshot`/`pdf` output paths are restricted to `/tmp`
or `/workspace`. `make-pdf` shells out to the `browse` daemon to rasterize.

Non-obvious gotcha — git-spawning tests and the injected commit-signing config:
Cursor's cloud VM sets a global `~/.gitconfig` with `commit.gpgsign=true` +
`gpg.format=ssh` (via `~/.cursor/bin/cursor-git-ssh-keygen`) and
`core.fsmonitor=true`. Tests that create temp git repos and commit (e.g.
`test/diff-scope.test.ts`) inherit this, so every `git commit` invokes the SSH
signer and intermittently stalls for seconds, blowing the tests' short
`spawnSync` timeouts and producing flaky failures that are NOT repo bugs. Run the
free suite with the global/system git config neutralized to get clean signal:
`GIT_CONFIG_GLOBAL=/dev/null GIT_CONFIG_SYSTEM=/dev/null bun run test`. Separately,
`bun run test` uses a strict wrapper that aborts at the first failing file, and a
few tests (e.g. `test/gstack-memory-ingest.test.ts` "#2105") are pre-existing
flakes that pass on re-run — re-run an individual file with
`bun test <file>` to confirm before treating a failure as real.

[`docs/gstack-2/HOST-COMPATIBILITY.md`](docs/gstack-2/HOST-COMPATIBILITY.md).

Commands are already documented in `package.json` scripts and `CONTRIBUTING.md`;
the authoritative ones here are: build with `bun run build` (compiles the
gitignored `browse/dist`, `make-pdf/dist`, and `bin/gstack-global-discover`
binaries — rebuild after editing `browse/src/*` or `make-pdf/src/*`), free test
suite with `bun run test`, and the AI-code-quality scan (this repo's "lint") with
`bun run slop`. Ignore the stale `gen:gstack2` / `test:gstack2` / `skill:check`
references in the AGENTS.md build block above — those scripts were deleted;
