Automated backport of #2525 to stable (backport job run).

AI recommendation: This is a self-contained change to @workflow/core's VM seed/clock derivation, and the targeted code (packages/core/src/workflow.ts, including the exact ${runId}:${workflowName}:${+startedAt} seed formula it replaces) already exists on stable, so it does not build on any main-only API. Derive the deterministic RNG seed from `runId:workflowName:deploymentId`
and the VM's initial fixed clock from the ULID timestamp embedded in
`runId` (via the new `runIdCreatedAt` helper). All of these inputs are
available the instant a queue message arrives, so the VM seed and clock
no longer depend on `startedAt` (set only after the `run_started`
round-trip). This is the prerequisite for starting VM initialization
earlier on the critical path.
This changes the seed-derived value sequence for a given run, so the
affected deterministic test fixtures are regenerated accordingly.

Closing without merging — skipping this backport.

To be precise about the dependency chain: #2525 (decoupling the workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt) was landed on main as a prerequisite for #2526 "[core] Turbo mode: fast-path the first invocation", which has since landed on main. Turbo mode lets the VM reach its first steps with no preceding network round-trips, which is only safe once the VM seed/clock no longer depend on the startedAt timestamp (set only after the run_started round-trip) — that is exactly what #2525 enables.

We are not backporting turbo mode (#2526) to stable, so #2525 provides no standalone benefit here:

  • On its own, perf(core): decouple workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt #2525 only changes the deterministic RNG seed sequence for a given run (seed derived from runId:workflowName:deploymentId instead of including startedAt), with no functional or performance upside absent the turbo-mode work that consumes it.
  • Backporting it would churn the seed-derived value sequence and the affected deterministic test fixtures on stable for no reason — risk without reward.

If turbo mode (#2526) is ever backported, this prerequisite (#2525) should be brought along with it.

Closing without merging — skipping this backport.

To be precise about the dependency chain: #2525 (decoupling the workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt) was landed on main as a prerequisite for #2526 "[core] Turbo mode: fast-path the first invocation", which has since landed on main. Turbo mode lets the VM reach its first steps with no preceding network round-trips, which is only safe once the VM seed/clock no longer depend on the startedAt timestamp (set only after the run_started round-trip) — that is exactly what #2525 enables.

We are not backporting turbo mode (#2526) to stable, so #2525 provides no standalone benefit here:

  • On its own, perf(core): decouple workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt #2525 only changes the deterministic RNG seed sequence for a given run (seed derived from runId:workflowName:deploymentId instead of including startedAt), with no functional or performance upside absent the turbo-mode work that consumes it.
  • Backporting it would churn the seed-derived value sequence and the affected deterministic test fixtures on stable for no reason — risk without reward.

If turbo mode (#2526) is ever backported, this prerequisite (#2525) should be brought along with it.

available the instant a queue message arrives, so the VM seed and clock
no longer depend on `startedAt` (set only after the `run_started`
round-trip). This is the prerequisite for starting VM initialization
earlier on the critical path.
This changes the seed-derived value sequence for a given run, so the
affected deterministic test fixtures are regenerated accordingly.

Closing without merging — skipping this backport.

To be precise about the dependency chain: #2525 (decoupling the workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt) was landed on main as a prerequisite for #2526 "[core] Turbo mode: fast-path the first invocation", which has since landed on main. Turbo mode lets the VM reach its first steps with no preceding network round-trips, which is only safe once the VM seed/clock no longer depend on the startedAt timestamp (set only after the run_started round-trip) — that is exactly what #2525 enables.

We are not backporting turbo mode (#2526) to stable, so #2525 provides no standalone benefit here:

  • On its own, perf(core): decouple workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt #2525 only changes the deterministic RNG seed sequence for a given run (seed derived from runId:workflowName:deploymentId instead of including startedAt), with no functional or performance upside absent the turbo-mode work that consumes it.
  • Backporting it would churn the seed-derived value sequence and the affected deterministic test fixtures on stable for no reason — risk without reward.

If turbo mode (#2526) is ever backported, this prerequisite (#2525) should be brought along with it.

available the instant a queue message arrives, so the VM seed and clock
no longer depend on `startedAt` (set only after the `run_started`
round-trip). This is the prerequisite for starting VM initialization
earlier on the critical path.
This changes the seed-derived value sequence for a given run, so the
affected deterministic test fixtures are regenerated accordingly.

Closing without merging — skipping this backport.

To be precise about the dependency chain: #2525 (decoupling the workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt) was landed on main as a prerequisite for #2526 "[core] Turbo mode: fast-path the first invocation", which has since landed on main. Turbo mode lets the VM reach its first steps with no preceding network round-trips, which is only safe once the VM seed/clock no longer depend on the startedAt timestamp (set only after the run_started round-trip) — that is exactly what #2525 enables.

We are not backporting turbo mode (#2526) to stable, so #2525 provides no standalone benefit here:

  • On its own, perf(core): decouple workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt #2525 only changes the deterministic RNG seed sequence for a given run (seed derived from runId:workflowName:deploymentId instead of including startedAt), with no functional or performance upside absent the turbo-mode work that consumes it.
  • Backporting it would churn the seed-derived value sequence and the affected deterministic test fixtures on stable for no reason — risk without reward.

If turbo mode (#2526) is ever backported, this prerequisite (#2525) should be brought along with it.

no longer depend on `startedAt` (set only after the `run_started`
round-trip). This is the prerequisite for starting VM initialization
earlier on the critical path.
This changes the seed-derived value sequence for a given run, so the
affected deterministic test fixtures are regenerated accordingly.

no longer depend on `startedAt` (set only after the `run_started`
round-trip). This is the prerequisite for starting VM initialization
earlier on the critical path.
This changes the seed-derived value sequence for a given run, so the
affected deterministic test fixtures are regenerated accordingly.

Closing without merging — skipping this backport.

To be precise about the dependency chain: #2525 (decoupling the workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt) was landed on main as a prerequisite for #2526 "[core] Turbo mode: fast-path the first invocation", which has since landed on main. Turbo mode lets the VM reach its first steps with no preceding network round-trips, which is only safe once the VM seed/clock no longer depend on the startedAt timestamp (set only after the run_started round-trip) — that is exactly what #2525 enables.

We are not backporting turbo mode (#2526) to stable, so #2525 provides no standalone benefit here:

  • On its own, perf(core): decouple workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt #2525 only changes the deterministic RNG seed sequence for a given run (seed derived from runId:workflowName:deploymentId instead of including startedAt), with no functional or performance upside absent the turbo-mode work that consumes it.
  • Backporting it would churn the seed-derived value sequence and the affected deterministic test fixtures on stable for no reason — risk without reward.

If turbo mode (#2526) is ever backported, this prerequisite (#2525) should be brought along with it.

Closing without merging — skipping this backport.

To be precise about the dependency chain: #2525 (decoupling the workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt) was landed on main as a prerequisite for #2526 "[core] Turbo mode: fast-path the first invocation", which has since landed on main. Turbo mode lets the VM reach its first steps with no preceding network round-trips, which is only safe once the VM seed/clock no longer depend on the startedAt timestamp (set only after the run_started round-trip) — that is exactly what #2525 enables.

We are not backporting turbo mode (#2526) to stable, so #2525 provides no standalone benefit here:

  • On its own, perf(core): decouple workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt #2525 only changes the deterministic RNG seed sequence for a given run (seed derived from runId:workflowName:deploymentId instead of including startedAt), with no functional or performance upside absent the turbo-mode work that consumes it.
  • Backporting it would churn the seed-derived value sequence and the affected deterministic test fixtures on stable for no reason — risk without reward.

If turbo mode (#2526) is ever backported, this prerequisite (#2525) should be brought along with it.

no longer depend on `startedAt` (set only after the `run_started`
round-trip). This is the prerequisite for starting VM initialization
earlier on the critical path.
This changes the seed-derived value sequence for a given run, so the
affected deterministic test fixtures are regenerated accordingly.

Closing without merging — skipping this backport.

To be precise about the dependency chain: #2525 (decoupling the workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt) was landed on main as a prerequisite for #2526 "[core] Turbo mode: fast-path the first invocation", which has since landed on main. Turbo mode lets the VM reach its first steps with no preceding network round-trips, which is only safe once the VM seed/clock no longer depend on the startedAt timestamp (set only after the run_started round-trip) — that is exactly what #2525 enables.

We are not backporting turbo mode (#2526) to stable, so #2525 provides no standalone benefit here:

  • On its own, perf(core): decouple workflow VM seed/clock from startedAt #2525 only changes the deterministic RNG seed sequence for a given run (seed derived from runId:workflowName:deploymentId instead of including startedAt), with no functional or performance upside absent the turbo-mode work that consumes it.
  • Backporting it would churn the seed-derived value sequence and the affected deterministic test fixtures on stable for no reason — risk without reward.

If turbo mode (#2526) is ever backported, this prerequisite (#2525) should be brought along with it.
