Try this again. Take a more "scientific" look at RAM savings. (Time difference?)
Implement for now; it's the easy solution.

A future avenue to explore is storing unique_name in vertices and not waypoints.

338672 are each occupied by 1 waypoints.
152386 are each occupied by 2 waypoints.
 30693 are each occupied by 3 waypoints.
 6642 are each occupied by 4 waypoints.
 1610 are each occupied by 5 waypoints.
 401 are each occupied by 6 waypoints.
 104 are each occupied by 7 waypoints.
 28 are each occupied by 8 waypoints.
 9 are each occupied by 9 waypoints.
 5 are each occupied by 10 waypoints.
 2 are each occupied by 11 waypoints.

That can save 243100 unique names -- at what average length?

Appears to be the case, actually using ~ 6 - 19 MB more.
If there is any savings, it's slight, and lost in the noise of whatever else the computer is doing (doubtful though at ~19 MB).

Moving unique_name from waypoints to vertices may still be something to explore, but would require a moderate reworking of these classes. Low priority.
