About the lab

The Reliable Robot Control (R2C) Lab at TU Delft develops the science and technology for reliable autonomy — ensuring that robots can move safely, securely, and intelligently in the real world.

Founded in 2020 and led by Dr. Laura Ferranti, the lab is part of the Cognitive Robotics Department within TU Delft's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

As autonomous systems become part of daily life, reliability becomes essential: robots must operate safely alongside people, resist cyber threats, and protect privacy while coordinating in dynamic environments. At R2C, we design algorithms and tools that make reliability measurable and deployable — combining insights from control theory, motion planning, machine learning, and cybersecurity. Our research spans multiple platforms, from autonomous cars and vessels to drones and manipulators, and bridges the gap between theory and deployment.
