Status — still open (reviewed 2026-08-22)

The asymmetry remains on current main (e8a5f1cc): crates/services/src/import/ imports external histories, and render_relay_transcript serializes context for provider handoff, but there is no user-facing export command, menu action, or round-trip export format.

Goal

Add Export thread with:

  • lossless tcode JSONL for backup and re-import;
  • readable Markdown, with stable ordering for messages, tool activity, plans, attachments, and metadata;
  • optional HTML only if it can be generated without introducing an unsafe rendering surface.

Expose it from the thread menu and command palette. Export must run off the UI thread and report write errors without altering the source session.

Acceptance criteria

  • JSONL export round-trips into an equivalent session.
  • Markdown export is deterministic and handles long/tool-heavy threads.
  • Attachments and redaction/privacy behavior are explicit.
  • The UI chooses a destination safely and never overwrites without confirmation.
