Improve the comment of SW workaround for CCM lpm issue using
hardware errata description to avoid confusion.
ERR007265: CCM: When improper low-power sequence is used, the SoC
enters low power mode before the ARM core executes WFI.
Software workaround:
1) Software should trigger IRQ #32 (IOMUX) to be always pending
by setting IOMUX_GPR1_GINT.
2) Software should then unmask IRQ #32 in GPC before setting CCM
Low-Power mode.
3) Software should mask IRQ #32 right after CCM Low-Power mode is
set (set bits 0-1 of CCM_CLPCR).

It's because that we don't do the right thing when checking if it's ok to
tell lockdep that we're trying to release the rwsem.
If the trans handle's type is TRANS_ATTACH, we won't acquire the freeze rwsem, but
as TRANS_ATTACH fits the check (trans < TRANS_JOIN_NOLOCK), we'll release the freeze
rwsem, which makes lockdep complains a lot.

When doing some numa tests on powerpc, I triggered an oops bug. I find
it is caused by using page->_last_cpupid. It should be initialized as
"-1 & LAST_CPUPID_MASK", but not "-1". Otherwise, in task_numa_fault(),
we will miss the checking (last_cpupid == (-1 & LAST_CPUPID_MASK)). And
finally cause an oops bug in task_numa_group(), since the online cpu is
less than possible cpu. This happen with CONFIG_SPARSE_VMEMMAP disabled

Dave Chinner has properly pointed out that this is a deadlock in the
reclaim code because ext4 doesn't submit pages which are marked by
PG_writeback right away.
The heuristic was introduced by commit e62e384 ("memcg: prevent OOM
with too many dirty pages") and it was applied only when may_enter_fs
was specified. The code has been changed by c3b94f4 ("memcg:
further prevent OOM with too many dirty pages") which has removed the
__GFP_FS restriction with a reasoning that we do not get into the fs
code. But this is not sufficient apparently because the fs doesn't
necessarily submit pages marked PG_writeback for IO right away.
ext4_bio_write_page calls io_submit_add_bh but that doesn't necessarily
submit the bio. Instead it tries to map more pages into the bio and
mpage_map_one_extent might trigger memcg charge which might end up
waiting on a page which is marked PG_writeback but hasn't been submitted
yet so we would end up waiting for something that never finishes.
Fix this issue by replacing __GFP_IO by may_enter_fs check (for case 2)
before we go to wait on the writeback. The page fault path, which is
the only path that triggers memcg oom killer since 3.12, shouldn't
require GFP_NOFS and so we shouldn't reintroduce the premature OOM
killer issue which was originally addressed by the heuristic.
As per David Chinner the xfs is doing similar thing since 2.6.15 already
so ext4 is not the only affected filesystem. Moreover he notes:
: For example: IO completion might require unwritten extent conversion
: which executes filesystem transactions and GFP_NOFS allocations. The
: writeback flag on the pages can not be cleared until unwritten
: extent conversion completes. Hence memory reclaim cannot wait on
: page writeback to complete in GFP_NOFS context because it is not
: safe to do so, memcg reclaim or otherwise.

[ Upstream commit ddc665a ]
When the instruction right before the branch destination is
a 64 bit load immediate, we currently calculate the wrong
jump offset in the ctx->offset[] array as we only account
one instruction slot for the 64 bit load immediate although
it uses two BPF instructions. Fix it up by setting the offset
into the right slot after we incremented the index.

Commit a47b70e ("ravb: unmap descriptors when freeing rings") has
introduced the issue seen in [1] reproduced on H3ULCB board.
Fix this by relocating the RX skb ringbuffer free operation, so that
swiotlb page unmapping can be done first. Freeing of aligned TX buffers
is not relevant to the issue seen in [1]. Still, reposition TX free
calls as well, to have all kfree() operations performed consistently
_after_ dma_unmap_*()/dma_free_*().

The stop_activity() routine in dummy-hcd is supposed to unlink all
active requests for every endpoint, among other things. But it
doesn't handle ep0. As a result, fuzz testing can generate a WARNING

This patch fixes the problem by iterating over all the endpoints in

which explicitly leaves out ep0.

During the loop if skb->len == nlh->nlmsg_len and both are sizeof(*nlh),
ev = nlmsg_data(nlh) will acutally get skb_shinfo(SKB) instead and set a
new value to skb_shinfo(SKB)->nr_frags by ev->type.
This patch is to fix it by checking nlh->nlmsg_len properly there to

commit f4483f2 upstream.
When a tail call fails, it is documented that the tail call should
continue execution at the following instruction. An example tail call
sequence is:
12: (85) call bpf_tail_call#12
13: (b7) r0 = 0
14: (95) exit
The ARM assembler for the tail call in this case ends up branching to
instruction 14 instead of instruction 13, resulting in the BPF filter
returning a non-zero value:

For other sequences, the tail call could end up branching midway through
the following BPF instructions, or maybe off the end of the function,
leading to unknown behaviours.

When CS.L is set, vcpu should run in the 64 bit paging mode.
Current kvm set_sregs function doesn't have such check when
userspace inputs sreg values. This will lead unexpected behavior.
This patch is to add checks for CS.L, EFER.LME, EFER.LMA and
CR4.PAE when get SREG inputs from userspace in order to avoid
unexpected behavior.

[ upstream commit 16338a9 ]
I recently noticed a crash on arm64 when feeding a bogus index
into BPF tail call helper. The crash would not occur when the
interpreter is used, but only in case of JIT. Output looks as

In this case the index used in BPF r3 is the same as in r1
at the time of the call, meaning we fed a pointer as index;
here, it had the value 0xffff808fd7cf0500 which sits in x2.
While I found tail calls to be working in general (also for
hitting the error cases), I noticed the following in the code
emission:
# bpftool p d j i 988
[...]
38: ldr w10, [x1,x10]
3c: cmp w2, w10
40: b.ge 0x000000000000007c <-- signed cmp

64: cbz x11, 0x000000000000007c
[...]
Meaning, the tests passed because commit ddb5599 ("arm64:
bpf: implement bpf_tail_call() helper") was using signed compares
instead of unsigned which as a result had the test wrongly passing.
Change this but also the tail call count test both into unsigned
and cap the index as u32. Latter we did as well in 90caccd
("bpf: fix bpf_tail_call() x64 JIT") and is needed in addition here,
too. Tested on HiSilicon Hi1616.
Result after patch:

If someone has the silly idea to write something along those lines:
extern u64 foo(void);
void bar(struct arm_smccc_res *res)
{
arm_smccc_1_1_smc(0xbad, foo(), res);
}
they are in for a surprise, as this gets compiled as:
0000000000000588 <bar>:
588: a9be7bfd stp x29, x30, [sp, #-32]!
58c: 910003fd mov x29, sp
590: f9000bf3 str x19, [sp, #16]
594: aa0003f3 mov x19, x0
598: aa1e03e0 mov x0, x30
59c: 94000000 bl 0 <_mcount>
5a0: 94000000 bl 0 <foo>
5a4: aa0003e1 mov x1, x0
5a8: d4000003 smc #0x0
5ac: b4000073 cbz x19, 5b8 <bar+0x30>
5b0: a9000660 stp x0, x1, [x19]
5b4: a9010e62 stp x2, x3, [x19, #16]
5b8: f9400bf3 ldr x19, [sp, #16]
5bc: a8c27bfd ldp x29, x30, [sp], #32
5c0: d65f03c0 ret
5c4: d503201f nop
The call to foo "overwrites" the x0 register for the return value,
and we end up calling the wrong secure service.
A solution is to evaluate all the parameters before assigning
anything to specific registers, leading to the expected result:
0000000000000588 <bar>:

The tx ring buffer map when xmit and unmap when xmit done. So in
hnae_init_ring() did not map tx ring buffer, but in hnae_fini_ring()
have a unmap operation for tx ring buffer, which is already unmapped
when xmit done, than cause this WARNING.
The hnae_alloc_buffers() is called in hnae_init_ring(),
so the hnae_free_buffers() should be in hnae_fini_ring(), not in
hnae_free_desc().
In hnae_fini_ring(), adds a check is_rx_ring() as in hnae_init_ring().
When the ring buffer is tx ring, adds a piece of code to ensure that
the tx ring is unmap.

The tx ring buffer map when xmit and unmap when xmit done. So in
hnae_init_ring() did not map tx ring buffer, but in hnae_fini_ring()
have a unmap operation for tx ring buffer, which is already unmapped
when xmit done, than cause this WARNING.
The hnae_alloc_buffers() is called in hnae_init_ring(),
so the hnae_free_buffers() should be in hnae_fini_ring(), not in
hnae_free_desc().
In hnae_fini_ring(), adds a check is_rx_ring() as in hnae_init_ring().
When the ring buffer is tx ring, adds a piece of code to ensure that
the tx ring is unmap.

If a network driver provides to napi_gro_frags() an

to gro_pull_from_frag0() will 'consume' the fragment
by calling skb_frag_unref(skb, 0), and the page might
be freed and reused.

[ Upstream commit f3e92cb ]
Nine years ago, I added RCU handling to neighbours, not pneighbours.
(pneigh are not commonly used)
Unfortunately I missed that /proc dump operations would use a
common entry and exit point : neigh_seq_start() and neigh_seq_stop()
We need to read_lock(tbl->lock) or risk use-after-free while
iterating the pneigh structures.
We might later convert pneigh to RCU and revert this patch.

If a network driver provides to napi_gro_frags() an
skb with a page fragment of exactly 14 bytes, the call
to gro_pull_from_frag0() will 'consume' the fragment
by calling skb_frag_unref(skb, 0), and the page might
be freed and reused.
Reading eth->h_proto at the end of napi_frags_skb() might
read mangled data, or crash under specific debugging features.

common entry and exit point : neigh_seq_start() and neigh_seq_stop()
We need to read_lock(tbl->lock) or risk use-after-free while
iterating the pneigh structures.
We might later convert pneigh to RCU and revert this patch.

commit 2464cc4 upstream.
After a treclaim, we expect to be in non-transactional state. If we
don't clear the current thread's MSR[TS] before we get preempted, then
tm_recheckpoint_new_task() will recheckpoint and we get rescheduled in
suspended transaction state.
When handling a signal caught in transactional state,
handle_rt_signal64() calls get_tm_stackpointer() that treclaims the
transaction using tm_reclaim_current() but without clearing the
thread's MSR[TS]. This can cause the TM Bad Thing exception below if
later we pagefault and get preempted trying to access the user's
sigframe, using __put_user(). Afterwards, when we are rescheduled back
into do_page_fault() (but now in suspended state since the thread's
MSR[TS] was not cleared), upon executing 'rfid' after completion of
the page fault handling, the exception is raised because a transition
from suspended to non-transactional state is invalid.

The simplified sequence of events that triggers the above exception is:
... # userspace in NON-TRANSACTIONAL state
tbegin # userspace in TRANSACTIONAL state
signal delivery # kernelspace in SUSPENDED state
handle_rt_signal64()
get_tm_stackpointer()
treclaim # kernelspace in NON-TRANSACTIONAL state
__put_user()
page fault happens. We will never get back here because of the TM Bad Thing exception.
page fault handling kicks in and we voluntarily preempt ourselves
do_page_fault()
__schedule()
__switch_to(other_task)
our task is rescheduled and we recheckpoint because the thread's MSR[TS] was not cleared
__switch_to(our_task)
switch_to_tm()
tm_recheckpoint_new_task()
trechkpt # kernelspace in SUSPENDED state
The page fault handling resumes, but now we are in suspended transaction state
do_page_fault() completes
rfid <----- trying to get back where the page fault happened (we were non-transactional back then)
TM Bad Thing # illegal transition from suspended to non-transactional
This patch fixes that issue by clearing the current thread's MSR[TS]
just after treclaim in get_tm_stackpointer() so that we stay in
non-transactional state in case we are preempted. In order to make
treclaim and clearing the thread's MSR[TS] atomic from a preemption
perspective when CONFIG_PREEMPT is set, preempt_disable/enable() is
used. It's also necessary to save the previous value of the thread's
MSR before get_tm_stackpointer() is called so that it can be exposed
to the signal handler later in setup_tm_sigcontexts() to inform the
userspace MSR at the moment of the signal delivery.
Found with tm-signal-context-force-tm kernel selftest.

It can be seen from the stack trace that the problem is that the
deregistration of the master causes a dev_close(), which gets notified
as NETDEV_GOING_DOWN to dsa_slave_netdevice_event().
But dsa_switch_shutdown() has already run, and this has unregistered the
DSA slave interfaces, and yet, the NETDEV_GOING_DOWN handler attempts to
call dev_close_many() on those slave interfaces, leading to the problem.
The previous attempt to avoid the NETDEV_GOING_DOWN on the master after
dsa_switch_shutdown() was called seems improper. Unregistering the slave
interfaces is unnecessary and unhelpful. Instead, after the slaves have
stopped being uppers of the DSA master, we can now reset to NULL the
master->dsa_ptr pointer, which will make DSA start ignoring all future
notifier events on the master.

By keep sending L2CAP_CONF_REQ packets, chan->num_conf_rsp increases
multiple times and eventually it will wrap around the maximum number
(i.e., 255).
This patch prevents this by adding a boundary check with
L2CAP_MAX_CONF_RSP

The conclusion "j1939_session_deactivate() should be called with a
session ref-count of at least 2" is incorrect. In some concurrent
scenarios, j1939_session_deactivate can be called with the session
ref-count less than 2. But there is not any problem because it
will check the session active state before session putting in
j1939_session_deactivate_locked().
Here is the concurrent scenario of the problem reported by syzbot
and my reproduction log.

This happens because, although `prepare_fb` and `cleanup_fb` are
perfectly balanced, we cannot guarantee consistency in the check
plane->state->fb == state->fb. This means that sometimes we can increase
the refcount in `prepare_fb` and don't decrease it in `cleanup_fb`. The
opposite can also be true.
In fact, the struct drm_plane .state shouldn't be accessed directly
but instead, the `drm_atomic_get_new_plane_state()` helper function should
be used. So, we could stick to this check, but using
`drm_atomic_get_new_plane_state()`. But actually, this check is not really
needed. We can increase and decrease the refcount symmetrically without
problems.
This is going to make the code more simple and consistent.

KMSAN reported uninit-value access in raw_lookup() [1]. Diag for raw
sockets uses the pad field in struct inet_diag_req_v2 for the
underlying protocol. This field corresponds to the sdiag_raw_protocol
field in struct inet_diag_req_raw.
inet_diag_get_exact_compat() converts inet_diag_req to
inet_diag_req_v2, but leaves the pad field uninitialized. So the issue
occurs when raw_lookup() accesses the sdiag_raw_protocol field.
Fix this by initializing the pad field in
inet_diag_get_exact_compat(). Also, do the same fix in
inet_diag_dump_compat() to avoid the similar issue in the future.

blk_mq_clear_flush_rq_mapping() is not called during scsi probe, by

clear the flag in del_gendisk. And since QUEUE_FLAG_REGISTERED already
make sure that queue should only be registered once, there is no need

codewalkerster pushed a commit that referenced this pull request Apr 28, 2026
commit 927fa5b upstream.
KMSAN reported uninit-value access in __unix_walk_scc() [1].
In the list_for_each_entry_reverse() loop, when the vertex's index
equals it's scc_index, the loop uses the variable vertex as a
temporary variable that points to a vertex in scc. And when the loop
is finished, the variable vertex points to the list head, in this case
scc, which is a local variable on the stack (more precisely, it's not
even scc and might underflow the call stack of __unix_walk_scc():
container_of(&scc, struct unix_vertex, scc_entry)).
However, the variable vertex is used under the label prev_vertex. So
if the edge_stack is not empty and the function jumps to the
prev_vertex label, the function will access invalid data on the
stack. This causes the uninit-value access issue.
Fix this by introducing a new temporary variable for the loop.

When a userspace process that is not the drm master calls
drm_mode_getconnector(), fill_modes() will not be called and
connector mode list will not be updated. If mode list is not
cleared when hdmi plug out, mode list obtained by the use-space
process when hdmi is disconnected will still be the same as when
hdmi is connected. This is inconsistent with the actual situation.
So when the hdmi plug out, connector mode list needs to be
actively cleared. The "modetest -c" printed when the error occurs
is as follows:
Connectors:
id encoder status name size (mm) modes encoders
410 409 disconnected HDMI-A-1 0x0 49 409
modes:
index name refresh (Hz) hdisp hss hse htot vdisp vss vse vtot
