In the old code when CPU reaches 50 degrees fan->duty changes from 1 to (255 * 50 / 80 = 159), that's cooling fast CPU by 1 degree again to 50 and cooler stops, and so on... This noise is annoying and may be this algorithm would be better?

When temperature is above 50 - everything is doing like it did before. After 50 degrees duty would be in interval [1, 255] instead of [159, 255]. But there would be a problem, that CPU will be cooling much less in temperature about 50-60. Well, it can be fixed by setting FAN_TEMP_START to 40 or 35 degrees.

And why make those hardcoded?
Making those as sysfs nodes would be much better for ones that wants to change that behavior.

okay) I'll try to do so. thanks

mdrjr, You want me to make a sysfs node only for fan starting temperature? Cause if the throttle temp is 83, it is better to keep the max temperature hardcoded...

But I didn't tested it yet... Have no access to my odroid from my job place. Well, what do you think about it?)

Here I made all my job in one commit and tested it. That works fine.

Would it be possible to merge this into the mali_r4 branch as well?

That branch is useless. I've removed it.. r4p0 support is now merge on main branch for 3.8

This happens because init_cma_reserved_pageblock() calls
__free_one_page() with pageblock_order as page order but it is bigger
than MAX_ORDER. This in turn causes accesses past zone->free_list[].
Fix the problem by changing init_cma_reserved_pageblock() such that it
splits pageblock into individual MAX_ORDER pages if pageblock is bigger
than a MAX_ORDER page.
In cases where !CONFIG_HUGETLB_PAGE_SIZE_VARIABLE, which is all
architectures expect for ia64, powerpc and tile at the moment, the
pageblock_order > MAX_ORDER condition will be optimised out since both
sides of the operator are constants. In cases where pageblock size is
variable, the performance degradation should not be significant anyway

commit f4483f2 upstream.
When a tail call fails, it is documented that the tail call should
continue execution at the following instruction. An example tail call
sequence is:
12: (85) call bpf_tail_call#12
13: (b7) r0 = 0
14: (95) exit
The ARM assembler for the tail call in this case ends up branching to
instruction 14 instead of instruction 13, resulting in the BPF filter
returning a non-zero value:
178:	ldr	r8, [sp, #588]	; insn 12
17c:	ldr	r6, [r8, r6]

1e8:	add	sp, sp, #596	; insn 14
1ec:	pop	{r4, r5, r6, r7, r8, sl, pc}
For other sequences, the tail call could end up branching midway through
the following BPF instructions, or maybe off the end of the function,
leading to unknown behaviours.

Emerald-Phoenix pushed a commit to Emerald-Phoenix/linux that referenced this pull request Jan 1, 2019
[ Upstream commit ca08987 ]
There is no expression deactivation call from the rule replacement path,
hence, chain counter is not decremented. A few steps to reproduce the
problem:
%nft add table ip filter
%nft add chain ip filter c1
%nft add chain ip filter c1
%nft add rule ip filter c1 jump c2
%nft replace rule ip filter c1 handle 3 accept
%nft flush ruleset
<jump c2> expression means immediate NFT_JUMP to chain c2.
Reference count of chain c2 is increased when the rule is added.
When rule is deleted or replaced, the reference counter of c2 should be
decreased via nft_rule_expr_deactivate() which calls
nft_immediate_deactivate().

commit f2e97dc upstream.
Fix following build error. We could push a tcp.h header into one of the
include paths, but I think its easy enough to simply pull in the three
defines we need here. If we end up using more of tcp.h at some point
we can pull it in later.

[ Upstream commit 3c8ce24 ]
The lifetime of EMAD transactions (i.e., 'struct mlxsw_reg_trans') is
managed using RCU. They are freed using kfree_rcu() once the transaction
ends.
However, in case the transaction failed it is freed immediately after being
removed from the active transactions list. This is problematic because it is
still possible for a different CPU to dereference the transaction from an RCU
read-side critical section while traversing the active transaction list in
mlxsw_emad_rx_listener_func(). In which case, a use-after-free is triggered
[1].
Fix this by freeing the transaction after a grace period by calling
kfree_rcu().

double add to pagecache:

then, will next loop with list head page's

So, we should not do the next loop when any page add to page cache

On an arm64 platform with the Spectrum ASIC, after loading and executing
a new kernel via kexec, the following trace [1] is observed. This seems
to be caused by the fact that the device is not properly shutdown before
executing the new kernel.
Fix this by implementing a shutdown method which mirrors the remove
method, as recommended by the kexec maintainer [2][3].

If the net_cls subsystem is already mounted, attempting to mount it again
in setup_classid_environment() will result in a failure with the error code
EBUSY. Despite this, tmpfs will have been successfully mounted at
/sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls. Consequently, the /sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls directory
will be empty, causing subsequent setup operations to fail.
Here's an error log excerpt illustrating the issue when net_cls has already
been mounted at /sys/fs/cgroup/net_cls prior to running
setup_classid_environment():

When a userspace process that is not the drm master calls
drm_mode_getconnector(), fill_modes() will not be called and
connector mode list will not be updated. If mode list is not
cleared when hdmi plug out, mode list obtained by the use-space
process when hdmi is disconnected will still be the same as when
hdmi is connected. This is inconsistent with the actual situation.
So when the hdmi plug out, connector mode list needs to be
actively cleared. The "modetest -c" printed when the error occurs
is as follows:
Connectors:
id encoder status name size (mm) modes encoders
410 409 disconnected HDMI-A-1 0x0 49 409
modes:
index name refresh (Hz) hdisp hss hse htot vdisp vss vse vtot
